Ty Pella
Ty Pella which means furthest house, is a very cosy traditional Welsh stone and slate end cottage nestled in the heart of the tiny hamlet of Parc, just 2½ miles from Bala Lake in Snowdonia. The quaint cottage has 2 front doors leading into the kitchen and the sitting room. The bedroom windows overlook the tiny churchyard, with stones dating back to the 1800’s.
The sitting room has a wealth of oak beams and an open fireplace, making this the cosiest of hideaways all year round. Colour TV, DVD and video. From the sitting room, through to the country-style kitchen-dining room, the wall here is almost a metre thick and the doorway through is just 21” wide.
The kitchen has views in 3 directions, so is light and airy with the most peaceful timeless views of the Llafar Valley and the Berwyn mountains. Electric cooker, microwave, fridge freezer, washer/dryer, toaster, iron and ironing board. Dining table for 4.
Two of the kitchen windows look out to the small side garden area, with patio furniture and off-road parking. From the sitting room, the original wooden spiral stairs lead to 2 bedrooms and the bathroom. The main bedroom, with sloping beamed ceilings, is the full depth of the cottage, and has a mahogany king size bed. Access to the second bedroom and the bathroom are gained by passing through this bedroom, with heavy tapestry curtains forming a passageway and allowing privacy. Second bedroom with double bed, panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Bathroom with traditional roll-top bath, WC and wash hand basin. Airing cupboard. Heating: Night storage heaters throughout. Hot water by immersion heater.
Over the wooden footbridge just yards from the cottage door is the village play area with swings and slide and space for children to play ball games away from the road. There are public footpaths galore in all directions. 5 minutes away by car away is the foot of Arenig mountain. This is a fairly demanding walk, but it reaps memorable rewards. From the peak it is possible to see the tip of Snowdon, the coast of Ireland and no less than 10 lakes. Parc is just a few minutes from Bala Lake, where watersports abound for experts and beginners. The National White Water Centre is just minutes away, for rafting and kayaking. Coed y Brenin in Dolgellau is the Mecca of mountain biking. The Karrimore and Red Bull Trails for the more daring, and quiet less demanding trails for dabblers.
Castles, lakes, mountains, railways and Blue Flag beaches galore. See our main brochure for activities, attractions and additional services. Each of our cottages has in-house local information and Wales Tourist Board Bedroom Browser with comprehensive details of North and Mid-Wales. The cosiest of cottages and the warmest of welcomes await you.
