There are six miles of gorgeous, sunny and safe sandy beaches that stretch between Rhyl and Prestatyn, making the area the perfect location for enjoying that family holiday or weekend away. Nicknamed the 'Funtime Coast', Rhyl and Prestatyn beach resorts are packed full of things to do, with the added bonus of having some of the highest sunshine records in Britain! Kids will love the miles of safe, clean beaches, the amusements, rides and shows. If you don't fancy lazing on one of the lovely beaches, why not try a spot of watersports? Or take a donkey ride along the shoreline, followed by a meal at one of the areas fabulous resturants or pubs. If your want to holiday with your whole family or a group of friends, but want somewhere spacious to all stay together then Rhyl and Prestatyn are your answer - with a great selection of self catered accommodation, you are sure to find something to suit you! The resorts are very modern but still manage to keep that traditional feel with candyfloss and icecream, and good old Punch and Judy shows for the kids! There is also an indoor beach (for those days of typical British weather), and an aquarium where you can enjoy the first ever walk-through underwater tunnel in Wales, as well as castles and golf courses. There are also boat trips that you can take to explore the bay, or if you fancy a bit of fishing - book a trip to do just that in Rhy's lovely harbour. The Lifeboat station is also worth a quick visit - with fascinating displays and great staff that can tell you all about the work of the lifeboat. Prestatyn provides some great entertainment at the Nova Centre - with indoor pools, a health and fitness studio and an awesome helter skelter ride - the whole family is bound to find something that they enjoy! For those keen walkers amongst you, you will find some great walks through the dramatic Prestatyn hillside, and you can enjoy the Offa's Dyke National Trail. If you prefer travelling on two wheels, then hop on your bike and and enjoy a bit of cycling along Rhyl Promenade, or take one of the two cycle routes starting at Prestatyn. The surrounding area is jam packed full of places to visit - impressive castles, Cathedrals and stately homes. There's loads of things that the kids will enjoy too - take a scary trip to Ruthin gaol or play a spot of miniature golf in Rhyl. |
